Forester

Primary Responsibilities: The forester supports the budgeting, planning, and execution of forestry operations. Responsibilities include evaluating timber value, working with landowners and mill partners, harvest planning, and harvest supervision. This position involves a combination of both field- and office-based duties, such as streamside management zone and boundary marking, collecting GPS field data, communication with mill procurement, landowners, and loggers, logging supervision, and computer-based reporting and management.

Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in forestry or a similar discipline. Two or more years of related experience is preferred, but not required. An outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment history is crucial. The successful candidate will become familiar with Microsoft Office and ESRI software. Technical experience with the following is desired: conducting performance assessments and applying appropriate control measures; timber-sales evaluation administration and inspections; and forest measurements.

This individual will be required to work independently, as well as part of a team. Developmental training is a condition of successful service in this role. He/she must also possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse individuals, both internal and external to the organization.
